Distance education and blended learning have become hugely important aspects of higher education due to the impact of Covid-19 on universities and students globally.  However, several SPHEIR projects (TIDE, PADILEIA, PfP, PEBL) focused on distance education and/or blended learning from the outset. These and others have also used e-learning methods to continue course delivery, provide support services to students, or deliver professional development to academic staff (teaching and administrative).
